You will have less time to enroll in the health insurance through the Affordable Care Act this year.

HealthCare.gov open enrollment this year is November 15 to February 15, half the time it was in 2013.

Another change coming this year through the Affordable Care Act are the increased penalties for those who do not have health care coverage and easier ways to sign up. Eight million people signed up last year and about 5 million more people are expected to sign up so you are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to enroll. If you enrolled in 2013, you might have to re-enroll this year. People will receive information about re-enrollment through email or by mail depending on the contact preference you selected when you enrolled in 2013. People also have the option to do nothing if they are currently satisfied with their current coverage and plans and they will be automatically re-enrolled.
