2017 Michigan exchange changes.
Exiting the individual market in Michigan will be UnitedHealthcare at the end of 2016 as well as in most other states UnitedHealthcare is currently offering health plans in the exchange.
Priority Health Insurance Company offering POS & PPO plans will be offering only small group plans and those plans will be only outside the exchange. The company’s’ HMO “Priority Health” will continue offering individual and small group plans both on and off the exchange. Both Priority Health Insurance Company & Priority Health are offering individual plans both on and off the market.
Confirmed by the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services that those enrolled in Priority Health Insurance (anyone who has a PPO / POS plan) must select a new health plan during this open enrollment because those plans will be terminated in the end of 2016.
Humana, only impacting the off exchange market as it drops their individual PPO plans in Michigan come end of 2016, Humana’s on exchange plans are HMO’s.
The remainder of carriers in the exchange for Michigan have filed rage change proposals for 2017 plans. These plans are available when the Open Enrollment begins come November 1.
