Vermont Health Connect is a State run healthcare insurance website. It is operated by the Department of Vermont Health Access, part of the State of Vermont’s Agency of Human Services. When the US federal health care law commonly known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in 2010 – each state was given the choice of building its own Obamacare health insurance marketplace, or “exchange”. The other options was to let the federal government build a Vermont healthcare website for it. In order to protect Vermont’s unique health reforms, we opted to build our own. This is why we say Vermont Health Connect is “for Vermonters, by Vermonters.”
Who uses the site? Individuals, families and many small businesses in Vermont benefit from choosing Vermont Health Connect health plans.
The Vermont Health Connect healthcare insurance plans cover the same set of essential health benefits. The difference in the plans is how you pay for those benefits. With a platinum health insurance plan, you pay the highest premium each month but you pay less when you actually use services. With a bronze plan, you pay less each month but you pay more for the services that you use.
